The Adventurer

The Adventurer was purchased by its 3rd owner in 2014 and has truly been treated with an "open checkbook" as she has cruised from her home port in Texas through the Caribbean and is currently in  Fort Lauderdale.  Extensive refitting and additions makes her as modern as her old bones will allow. She maybe the perfect Bahamas boat and never ceases to turn heads when tied up at the dock.

A few of the upgrades:

Hull side paint, all soft goods, HVAC system, all HEADS , new appliances, modern AV system, all new Garmin and Furuno electronics, KVH V7&HD7, Flir, new couches, beds, new tables, paint, wall paper, carpet, furniture, davit rebuilt, new exhaust, windless rebuilt, bimini top, dive compressor with storage tanks, eskimo ice maker, and 19' prestige tender w/ front beaching ramp.

New CAT Generator April 2019.

Cruising at an easy 12knots the Adventurer burns less than 40gph and with 4000 gallons of fuel has a comfortable 1000 mile range.

Climbing aboard you will find a classic Burger Motor Yacht updated with class and well cared for. The Adventurer is not a project, with provisions and crew she's ready to cruise. The extension of the hull in 1995 added a great aft deck area and swim platform. Additionally the extension provided a 4th stateroom for more guests or crew.

Overview

Designer: J.B. Hargrave

Typical of Burgers, ADVENTURER has had just three owners since she was launched in
1985. Retaining her original name, ADVENTURER is a large volume, classic design from the offices of JB Hargrave in Palm Beach, FL. In 1998, one of the naval architects from the Hargrave office was retained to re-design the aft deck with a more modern Euro stern. In the process the aft deck was enlarged and a fourth stateroom added. Easier access to the swim platform was facilitated by building in and integral stairway from the aft deck. The overall profile as a result is both modern and classic Her welded aluminum construction with longitudinal and athwartship framing, utilizing five watertight bulkheads, a fine entry rising to a flared bow, and integral spray rails, yield a soft, dry ride even in turbulent sea conditions. A lovely teak interior throughout maintains the warm tradition of yachting at its finest. The vessel has 7’ headroom throughout.

The aft extension was added in 1998 by Ocean Alloy, utilizing plans drawn by Kevin Calhoun formerly of J. B. Hargrave Architects. The lines were followed beautifully and the result not only looks terrific but the addition has also enhanced the performance of the yacht in terms of speed and handling.

Accommodations

ADVENTURER can sleep 8 in four double cabins each with luxuriously appointed, ensuite
heads. There are separate crew quarters forward for three or four persons plus a private crew lounge with additional refrigeration and storage. Access to the full width, stand-up engine room is from the crew quarters. On the main deck, starting forward is the spacious galley, U-shaped, and recently updated in 2015/16 with new appliances and flooring. Next aft is the formal dining salon with ample seating for eight. Moving further aft a starboard side companionway with teak and holly sole continues past the steps up to the pilothouse to a full width bridge deck with access to port and starboard egress doors to the exterior side decks. To starboard from the bridge deck is the main deck powder room while to port is a hanging locker. Next aft a center line passage door opens to the extremely spacious and elegantly furnished main salon with wet bar, hidden tv, new couch with storage underneath. Still further aft is the open aft with built-in seating and pedestal table for al fresco dining. Access to the flybridge is by built-in teak stairs from the midship raised pilothouse.

Walk Through

ADVENTURER’s layout spans three deck levels, with the lower level devoted to owner and guest staterooms as follows:

Staterooms

On the starboard side of the main salon, a teak lined stairway leads down to a foyer with two Guest Staterooms forward and the Master Stateroom aft. Forward to port is the VIP stateroom with a walkaround queen berth and ensuite head with shower forward. To starboard is a second guest stateroom with twin lower berths, also with an ensuite head and shower forward. Each of the guest staterooms has individual zone air conditioning, opening portlights, hanging closets and drawer bureaus, and flat screen televisions.
Aft from the foyer is the full width Master Stateroom with a walkaround king sized bed and large ensuite head with shower and full sized bath tub. There are port and starboard hanging closets as well as abundant drawer storage in built in bureaus together with large linen drawers beneath the bed. The stateroom also has independent digital air conditioning and heating controls along with port and starboard opening portlights. A new flat screen television has been recently added inside a chest from which is raises.
The full beam Fourth Stateroom is accessed from the main salon by a stairs aft to
starboard. Nicely paneled in teak, this cabin is furnished with a queen sized sleeper sofa and can also serve as a private lounge or study. Head and shower are ensuite and the stateroom is furnished with hanging closet, entertainment center, writing desk, heat and air conditioning controls, opening portlights, television and music.

Crew accommodations are all the way forward, accessed by stairs down from the galley. Crew quarters include a captain's cabin with a double berth, and a bunk cabin with two single
berths. There is a crew head with shower, a crew lounge, and custom refrigeration/freezer and storage space.

Main Deck

Moving from forward to aft the main deck level is as follows:

The Foredeck area is both a working deck for anchoring and line handling as well as a lounge
deck. The teak decking in this area has been recently cleaned and is both beautiful and
traditional. There are port and starboard dunnage boxes built in, with the chain locker hatch, windlass, and crew quarters hatch on the centerline. The anchors are deployed from bow anchor pockets with through deck chain pipes, for ease and functionality. A built-in bow seat is on the forward end of the deckhouse with storage and shore power hook-ups beneath. A canvas cover protects the cushions for this seating area.
From the foredeck, the teak laid side decks run all the way aft to the midship entry doors into the yacht’s interior. A teak and holly soled Bridge Deck inside these entry doors runs the full width of the yacht and serves to divide the salon areas aft from the pilothouse, dining salon, and galley forward. To starboard from the Bridge Deck is the main deck powder room while to port is a small storage closet.
Immediately forward from the Bridge Deck on the starboard side is the stairway access up to the teak lined Pilothouse. An upholstered bench with room for 3-4 persons faces the pilothouse helm with excellent visibility forward as well as to each side through large teak framed windows. Abundant built-in storage can be found throughout the pilothouse including full sized chart drawers as well as proper places for navigation tools and equipment. A proper teak-spoked ship’s wheel bespeaks the tradition of yachting while updated navigation aids insure constant contact with the yacht’s position and performance. A list of navigational electronics will follow.
Continuing from the Bridge Deck companionway the Dining Salon is next forward which again embodies the elegance aboard. Luxurious seating for eight is surrounded by a blend of teak and fine artwork, direct and indirect lighting, and large windows port and starboard which can be enclosed for privacy. Custom “cloud” painting on the ceiling sets the mood. The yacht’s sound system can be tailored to the occasion.

Conveniently located next forward is the fully equipped Galley which is a chef’s delight. With ample counter space and storage cabinetry, the majority of the galley appliances were recently updated with new and modern equipment. New flooring was also installed in the galley. Lighting both overhead and indirect is superb and there are large windows above the stainless steel double sink to port as well as to starboard. A list of galley appliances will follow.

Returning to the Bridge Deck and moving aft a centerline passage door opens to the exquisitely grand, carpeted Main Salon which measures 18’ X 23’ and is a fabulous area for entertaining completely separate from the dining salon. Redecorated in 2015, furnishings include a nearly full length upholstered sectional with storage underneath to port with matching cocktail tables and elegant lighting
combinations. Aft to starboard is the glass topped game table with four arm chairs. Forward to port, built-in with teak cabinetry and mirror lined shelving, is the wet bart. To starboard is an additional Air Conditioning closet and entertainment center. Between them sits a console that hides a massive TV that raises on demand. The entire salon is graced with lovely teak paneling and large surrounding windows fitted with valance mounted privacy curtains, new in 2015. The stern view from the main salon is through a glass and aluminum framed door wall which opens to the teak decked Aft Salon. Curtains can be drawn to separate these two areas although when fully open the effect is one of spacious opulence. Furnished with an L-shaped settee and several matching Rattan chairs, there is a pedestal mounted Hi-Lo table which can be set for cocktails or al- fresco dining. Though covered by the boat deck extension, sides and stern are fully open providing the aft salon with a wonderful boating ambience. An air conditioner was added to the aft deck in 2015 that vents from inside the settee providing some cool air on the hottest summer days as well as spooking of the “no-see-ums”.

Access to the newly enlarged Swim Deck for water sports or tender access is easily facilitated by the stern railing gate and built in stairs aft to port. There is a custom swim ladder that is lowered from its storage on the top deck when needed. Access to the brownies dive compressor (compressor in the lazerrete) fill hose is in the aft starboard locker as well as a fresh water rinse. Removable stern railings are mounted into the swim platform for safety.

Upper Deck

The Flybridge and Boat Deck are accessed by built-in teak stairs from the port side of the pilothouse. Most of the instruments and navigational aids are duplicated on the flybridge and there are three swiveling STIDD helm seats deck mounted in line just aft of the helm with foot rests for
each. A venturi type windscreen deflects wind forward and to each side while a full beam Bimini top spans the flybridge seating area. L-shaped bench seating is built-in aft to port and starboard with large areas of dry stowage beneath. Outdoor stereo speakers are mounted into the base of the benches. On the centerline is the wet bar cabinet with stainless steel sink and an eskimo ice machine that feeds a large yeti cooler on the top deck. This cabinet also serves as the base for a very elegant yet functional radar and signal mast. The radar mast is hinged and can be lowered and by doing so and lowering the Bimini top, maximum clearance can be reduced to an approximate 20’ level for Great Lakes access.
Aft of the flybridge seating area is the Boat Deck with a starboard mounted, low profile davit. The 19’ Prestige tender is situated fore and aft on moveable chocks.
